Job summary

RETTEW in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking an experienced Municipal Engineering Project Manager to serve as a trusted engineering advisor to municipal clients while leading infrastructure and community-development projects. This role combines engineering judgment, project leadership, and strong client relationships to influence growth, capital investments, and policy decisions for local communities.

Occasional travel and evening meetings may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Significant professional experience in the AEC industry with municipal engineering and project-management responsibility.
  • Experience serving municipalities, municipal authorities, or other public-sector clients.
  • Experience managing engineering projects with scope, schedule, budget, and client communication.
  • Experience reviewing subdivision/land development submissions or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of municipal ordinances, permitting processes, land development practices, and infrastructure planning.
  • Experience communicating technical recommendations to public-sector stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication with experience preparing technical reports or recommendations.
  • Ability to attend evening municipal meetings and related hearings.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary engineering representative and trusted advisor for municipal clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with municipal officials, staff, authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Manage municipal projects from planning through completion, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.
  • Review submissions for compliance with ordinances and standards.
  • Prepare technical review letters, reports and recommendations for clients.
  • Advise officials on improvements, infrastructure needs, and capital investments.
  • Attend and present at municipal meetings, planning commissions, and hearings.
  • Explain complex engineering issues clearly to officials, developers and public.
  • Coordinate with developers, regulatory agencies, and RETTEW’s teams.
  • Support infrastructure and capital planning across transportation, stormwater, utilities, etc.
  • Identify risks and help clients develop practical solutions.
  • Explore opportunities to expand RETTEW’s services with existing clients.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania
