Job summary
Bolton & Menk, Inc. seeks an entry-level Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Municipal team in Cedar Rapids. You will assist project managers and engineers on design and construction activities for municipal projects, contributing to safe, sustainable infrastructure.
A Civil Engineering degree and EIT eligibility within 12 months are required, with travel opportunities during the season. Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation) is expected, along with a willingness to travel and
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
- Certified Engineer-in-Training or able to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Prior experience in either infrastructure design and/or construction observation.
- Working knowledge of CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation).
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on municipal projects.
- Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, and prepare rough drafts of reports.
- Assist with project plans, specifications, and cost/quantity take-off estimates.
- Support construction observation activities, including staking, documentation, testing, and liaising with contractors and city staff.
