Job summary

Salt Lake County is seeking a field inspector to monitor municipal construction projects and maintain accurate site records. You will read and interpret plans, grade sheets, and permit drawings, ensuring concrete and paving work complies with specifications and safety standards.

Responsibilities include enforcing SWPPP requirements, performing soil density testing, coordinating inspections, and maintaining daily reports.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of related municipal construction experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Utah driver’s license at hire; must obtain within six months to operate county vehicle.
• Must obtain Class B CDL or within six months of hire.
• SWPPP certification within the first year.
• Background check and fingerprinting required; RAP Back enrollment.
• Mandatory drug test with random testing and post-incident testing.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction projects to ensure plans and specs are met.
• Interpret project plans, grade sheets, and site surveys.
• Inspect concrete, bituminous surface, base courses, and pipe installations to meet specs.
• Enforce SWPPP compliance and address deficiencies.
• Record daily logs, drawings, and reports; schedule inspections.
• Perform snow removal duties as needed.
