Job summary

The Village of Montgomery is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to join the Community Development Department. This on-site, full-time role focuses on enforcing local codes to protect safety, property standards, and the community’s appearance.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in code enforcement or related fields, a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and the ability to obtain ICC Property Maintenance certifications within a year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in building/property maintenance codes preferred.
• 1–3 years in code enforcement, building maintenance, or related field.
• Ability to read, interpret, and explain laws, ordinances, and regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to enforce regulations tactfully.

Responsibilities

• Enforce local ordinances and property maintenance standards to maintain safety and quality of life.
• Inspect sites and document violations clearly.
• Utilize detection and measurement tools during inspections.
• Communicate findings and requirements to property owners and stakeholders.
