The City of Amarillo is seeking a Building Inspector to perform a range of inspections for compliance with municipal codes and nuisance issues. This role also carries Parking Enforcement duties and requires collaboration with other departments.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, be able to obtain ICC certifications within a year, and hold a valid Texas driver’s license. Bilingual Spanish is preferred. Schedule is Monday–Friday with possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year experience with high public contact.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Must obtain the ICC Property Maintenance Code / Code Enforcement Officer Certification within twelve months of employment.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required or obtained within 30 days.
• Must pass a TCOLE Personal History background check.

Responsabilités

• Inspects residential and commercial buildings and properties to ensure compliance with City of Amarillo Municipal Code.
• Performs graffiti, junk, debris, and junk vehicle inspections.
• Coordinates with other agencies and contractors on condemnation and demolition processes.
• Prepares reports and may testify in Municipal Court as needed.
• Provides information to the public regarding requirements and policies.
• Performs Parking Enforcement duties as assigned.
