AKHIRE is seeking an Assistant Attorney in Anchorage, AK to investigate legal issues, prepare and present responses, and perform a wide range of legal and administrative tasks.

The role requires a Juris Doctor (JD) and bar admission, with two years of legal experience preferred; onsite rotations at Barrow HQ are part of the job. Competitive pay and permanent, full-time employment are offered.

Qualifications

• JD required to practice law.
• Two years legal experience preferred.
• Bar admission in any state and eligibility to take Alaska Bar.
• Maintain a clear criminal record.

Responsibilities

• Review, approve and negotiate contracts and legal issues in line with office policy.
• Apply legal expertise across administrative, contract, tort, personnel, environmental, and regulatory fields for municipalities.
• Conduct legal research and assemble documents and analyses for cases.
• Review relevant decisions, policies, regulations and legal matters.
• Represent the Borough at hearings, examine witnesses and argue points of law.
• Monitor trends in legal issues and civil justice; onsite Barrow HQ rotations required.
