Job summary

U.S. Pacific Fleet in San Diego, CA is seeking a skilled supervisor to oversee trade and production work in naval settings. You will inspect, direct, and adjust tasks to control costs and meet schedules, and supervise a range of trades on complex evolutions both in shops and aboard ships.

Strong leadership and ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally are required; selectees must meet DoD and Navy requirements, including security clearance eligibility and vaccination policies.

Qualifications

  • This job has a screen-out element: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE.
  • Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect work in progress and upon completion.
  • Change work plans, work assignments, and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs and maintain schedule.
  • Assign work to subordinates and instruct them on work and schedule requirements, methods and procedures as needed.
  • Supervise employees in shops or aboard ships performing complex work evolutions to assure compliance with technical directives.
  • Supervise a variety of trade workers at various grade levels in the performance of nuclear and non-nuclear production work.
  • Change work plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs and maintain the work schedule.
  • Determine the work to be completed and ensure the nature and scope of the work is communicated clearly via written and verbal methods.
