Job summary

GVTC Communications is seeking a hands-on Facilities & Fleet Maintenance Technician in New Braunfels, TX to keep our buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment safe and functional. You’ll perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and general facility projects with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Approximately 3 years of facilities, building, equipment, automotive, industrial, or general maintenance experience.
• Hands-on experience across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, or equipment repair.
• General knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Experience inspecting, maintaining, or repairing vehicles and equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience safely operating common hand and power tools.
• Ability to read technical instructions, equipment manuals, drawings, and specifications.
• Good judgment and the ability to determine the best approach to completing a repair.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance records and related responsibilities.
• The flexibility to work varying shifts when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and general maintenance throughout GVTC facilities.
• Complete preventive maintenance on buildings, machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
• Inspect company vehicles and equipment and identify maintenance or repair needs.
• Diagnose problems and complete repairs in the shop or field.
• Perform general carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, painting, machine repair, and related maintenance work.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, instructions, and manufacturer specifications.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment required for assigned projects.
• Maintain accurate preventive maintenance and service records.
• Identify and report defective equipment, materials, or unsafe conditions.
• Work alongside outside contractors and vendors on facility projects when needed.
• Purchase project-specific materials and equipment while helping manage costs.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Follow GVTC safety practices and procedures at all times.
