Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Certified Surgical Assistant to support surgeons across multiple specialties in a dynamic perioperative setting in Minnesota. The CSA will assist with suturing, instrument handling, patient positioning, and aseptic technique, adapting to varied procedures and teams.

The role requires current CSA or CSFA certification, OR experience within the last three years, and strong teamwork to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Assistant program or equivalent training; currently certified as CSA by NSAA or CSFA by NBSTSA.
• Relevant operating room experience or training within the past 3 years is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon in a multi-specialty perioperative setting.
• Demonstrate anatomy knowledge, suturing, instrument handling and patient positioning.
• Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to perioperative policies and guidelines.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and support in various surgeries including general, orthopedic, neuro, spinal, ENT, gynecologic, urologic, cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, trauma, plastic, transplant, colorectal and pediatric procedures.
