Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Ultrasound Sonographer for the Grayslake Outpatient Center. This 20-hour/week role runs 10:30 PM–7:00 AM with Sunday–Tuesday one week and Wednesday–Thursday the next, plus on-call rotation.

Responsibilities include performing diagnostic ultrasound across multiple specialties and ensuring patient care from pre-procedure education to post-procedure reporting. Requires ARDMS in two areas, BLS, and graduation from an accredited program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program.
• Two ARDMS areas certified and BLS required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations across abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, breast, and MSK.
• Review and evaluate imaging requests and patient history to determine appropriate examination protocols and techniques.
• Operate ultrasound equipment and accessories to produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing patient exposure.
• Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures to reduce anxiety and improve comfort and cooperation.
• Assess and care for patients throughout the procedure in accordance with department, hospital, and age-specific patient care standards.
• Transmit completed studies to PACS and other imaging systems using correct accession numbers.
• Prepare preliminary findings or reports in designated reporting systems and route to interpreting physicians as required.
