Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Part-time Multispecialty Coder in the United States to review clinical documentation and translate diagnoses into CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes. You will work across specialties including family medicine, internal medicine, general surgery, and orthopedics, with a focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• CPC or CCS certification is required.
• 3–5 years multispecialty coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Thorough knowledge of payer coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and coding updates.

Responsibilities

• Assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures across multiple specialties.
• Review physician notes and reports to identify information needed for accurate coding.
• Abstract patient information from medical records for data entry and reporting.
• Clarify unclear or incomplete documentation with providers.
• Apply current coding guidelines and payer rules for accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in coding audits and suggest process improvements.
• Collaborate with billing to investigate and resolve denials.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and security.
• Stay current with coding changes through continuing education.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced coders.
