To support rural healthcare providers, the part-time Certified Multispecialty Coder will accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for various medical specialties while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and maximizing reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Assign appropriate codes to diagnoses and procedures for professional and facility services across multiple medical specialties
• Review medical documentation to extract necessary information for accurate coding and clarify ambiguous documentation with healthcare providers
• Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding-related denials and participate in regular coding audits

Required qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required; additional specialty certifications preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years of multi-specialty coding experience, preferably in a rural healthcare setting
• Extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems, along with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines and regulations
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software
