Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in clinical areas, assist with examinations, procedures and diagnostics, and perform administrative tasks. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and graduation from a Medical Assistant program, with certification eligibility within 12 months of hire.

Six months of MA experience or externship is required, with CPR/BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; and graduation from a Medical Assistant program
• Eligible for certification by AMT or AAMA or NHA or NAHP within 12 months of hire
• Six (6) months of medical assistant experience required or completion of a medical assistant externship
• Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification within 30 days of hire
• Urgent Care experience and phlebotomy experience preferred for urgent care locations

Responsibilities

• Assist providers in patient care in assigned clinical areas
• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatments, and dressing changes
• Perform clerical and administrative duties per policies; adhere to EMR and coding standards
• Record vital signs and patient information; coordinate with care teams
• Perform venipuncture and collect urine specimens per procedures; handle specimens with universal precautions
• Float to other clinics as needed and work flexible hours to meet patient care needs
