Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice. The MA will support patient care by rooming patients, taking vitals, and updating medical history, medications, and chief complaints.

Responsibilities include chart preparation, document scanning, room stocking, medication refills with pre-authorization, and ensuring clinic workflows. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential to provide safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with national accreditation.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for the visit.
• Interview/update chief complaint, medical history, meds, and take vitals.
• Prepare patient charts in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Scan documents to patient charts.
• Stock and clean exam rooms.
• Refill medications and obtain necessary pre-authorizations.
• Confirm in-network physician and up-to-date referrals.
• Assist physician with wound care and procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document logs.
• Educate patients on labs, referrals, and orders.
• Schedule follow-up appointments after visits.
• Obtain authorizations before sending orders.
• Distribute faxes to team members.
• Perform related duties as required.
