Job summary

Paycom in Los Alamitos, CA is seeking a compassionate Multi-Specialty Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This role combines front-office administrative duties with back-office clinical responsibilities, and travel between Los Alamitos and Long Beach will be required.

You will greet patients, verify demographics, schedule appointments, collect payments, assist with referrals and procedures, and document in EMR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant diploma or certificate preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Experience performing both front-office and back-office duties strongly preferred.
• Experience in a multispecialty medical practice is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and standard medical office practices.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and required documentation.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Answer incoming calls, route messages, and assist patients with general questions.
• Collect copayments and other patient payments as applicable.
• Assist with referrals, authorizations, prescription requests, and medical record requests.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, medications, allergies, and other clinical information.
• Assist physicians and providers with examinations and in-office procedures.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
• Collect, prepare, and properly label laboratory specimens.
• Perform point-of-care testing and assist with laboratory procedures as directed.
• Administer medications and injections within scope of practice and applicable regulations.
• Provide patient education and post-procedure instructions as directed by the provider.
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicate laboratory and diagnostic results to patients according to provider instructions and office protocols.
• Maintain infection-control, sterilization, and safety standards.
• Monitor and stock clinical and office supplies.
• Coordinate with providers and staff to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations.
• Travel between the Los Alamitos and Long Beach offices as scheduled.
• Assist with maintaining consistent front- and back-office workflows across both locations.
• Perform other administrative and clinical duties as assigned.
