Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in patient care across multiple clinics. The role includes assisting with examinations, procedures, phlebotomy, specimen collection, vital signs, and charting using EMR systems.

Requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a Medical Assistant program, and MA certification eligibility within 12 months of hire. Six months MA experience or externship is required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of medical assistant experience required; or completion of a medical assistant externship.
• Urgent care locations experience preferred.
• Good communications and positive working relationships with staff, physicians and patients.
• Working knowledge of ICD9/10 and CPT coding and insurance procedures.
• Willingness to float to other clinic practices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures.
• Take and record patient vital signs and assess readiness for exam.
• Prepare exam rooms and hand instruments to providers as needed.
• Perform venipuncture, collect specimens, and complete lab procedures per policy.
