Job summary

UF Health in Jacksonville is seeking a professional medical assistant to support clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of a licensed physician. You will help with patient care and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting in the medical record, assisting with examinations, administering medications, and participating as a team member in patient care.

Qualifications

• 1-year - Medical assistant experience preferred
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience in health care preferred
• 1-year experience with third party payors and computer data entry/review preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire (American Red Cross or AHA)
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire
• MA program accredited by National Commission for Certifying Agencies or equivalent board approval

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs, prepare patients for provider care, assist with examinations
• Document all entries in medical record (electronic or hard copy) with signature, date and time
• Administer medication as directed by licensed physician
• Observe and report patient signs/symptoms, collect routine lab specimens
• Administer basic first aid
• Participate in performance improvement projects
• Act as a care team member coordinating patient care
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff and other customers
