Job summary

UF Health is seeking a professional, multi-skilled Medical Assistant to support physicians with administrative and clinical duties in our Florida clinics. Under direct supervision, you will take vital signs, prepare patients, document entries, and assist with examinations.

Ideal candidates have 1 year MA experience, strong clerical/customer service background, CMA and BLS within 6 months, and basic medical terminology knowledge.

Qualifications

• 1 year Medical assistant preferred
• 2 years Clerical/customer service experience - ideally in a health care related industry preferred
• 1 year experience with third party payors and data entry of patient demographics preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire
• National/State MA program accreditation completion required

Responsibilities

• Take patient's vital signs and prepare patients for care and examinations
• Document all entries in the medical record (electronic or hard copy) with signature, date and time
• Administer medication under the supervision of a licensed physician
• Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms; collect routine laboratory specimens
• Administer basic first aid
• Participate in performance improvement projects
• Be an active care team member in coordinating patient care
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and other customers
• May travel to other UF Health clinics as assigned
