Qualifications

• Certification as Medical Assistant (CMA) required or within 6 months
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire
• 1 year medical assistant experience preferred
• 2–4 years clerical/customer service experience preferred
• 1 year experience with third party payors and computer data entry preferred
• MA program accredited by NCMA/state/other approved body
• High School Diploma or GED required at hire

Responsibilities

• Take patient vital signs and prepare patients for provider care
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments
• Document all entries in medical records (electronic or paper) with signatures and timestamps
• Administer medications under supervision of licensed physician
• Observe and report patient signs or symptoms; collect routine lab specimens
• Administer basic first aid and participate in performance improvement projects
• Act as an active care team member in coordinating patient care
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and other customers
