Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living is seeking a Maintenance Assistant in Bon Air, VA. The role supports the Maintenance Director with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and life-safety tasks to keep the community in good condition.

Responsibilities include routine upkeep, equipment repairs, safety compliance, and coordination with staff to ensure a safe, clean environment for residents and families. On-call duties are required to cover emergencies 24/7.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years in a maintenance-related role.
• Strong reading, writing and speaking English skills.
• H.S. diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on grounds and facilities as directed.
• Repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC components.
• Maintain safety best practices and fire prevention.
• Keep the facility clean, safe and in good repair.
• Replace bulbs and support housekeeping in high locations.
• Assist with safety inspections and repair logs.
• Provide resident transportation as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
