Job summary

Avient Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair equipment across multiple crafts in our manufacturing environment. You will complete maintenance orders, diagnose problems, and implement fixes to minimize downtime.

You’ll work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, operate shop machinery, and uphold safety and quality standards while supporting plant goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field preferred.
• 2-5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices and the ability to diagnose equipment failures and complete repairs efficiently.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial control systems preferred.
• Experience using a CMMS to document repairs, work orders, preventive maintenance activities, and equipment history preferred.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment, and precision measuring devices.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively to equipment breakdowns and production needs.
• Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with production, engineering, and operations teams.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, or respond to emergency maintenance needs as required.

Responsibilities

• Completes projects with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing equipment downtime and lost production capability.
• Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation and replaces defective parts.
• Sets up and operates shop machinery and uses hand tools to modify or repair parts and equipment.
• Installs new or repairs/modifies hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
• Improves reliability and uptime of all equipment with a preventive maintenance mentality.
• Operates forklift and hydraulic working platform as needed.
• Researches supplies, parts and tools needed to complete work orders.
• Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
• Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings, PM logs.
• Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
• Follows Safety, Health and Environmental rules while performing duties.
• Maintains departmental housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned.
