Job summary

Willard R-2 School District is seeking a General Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of building trades tasks on district facilities. The role supports construction, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and carpentry duties to maintain safe, functional school buildings.

The candidate should have experience in general construction, knowledge of tools, and familiarity with OSHA safety standards. Strong communication and physical stamina are essential for daily site work and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in general construction with knowledge of residential and commercial applications.
• Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, and maintenance.
• Materials knowledge for construction or repair of buildings.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards.
• Strong communication with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including climbing and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of building design and construction.
• Basic electrical skills including ballasts, breakers, receptacles, switches, wiring, and troubleshooting.
• Basic plumbing skills including installing or repairing faucets, valves, pipes, and drain lines.
• Ability to evaluate, install, and repair roof leaks.
• Good craftsmanship with woodworking, including trim and frame carpentry.
• Ability to pour and finish concrete and lay masonry blocks.
• Ability to construct and repair countertops, including laminate installation.
• Operate machinery and perform basic maintenance on construction equipment.
• Install and repair various flooring types.
• Read construction drawings, develop material lists, and work according to drawings.
• Understand safety procedures meeting OSHA standards.
• Maintain buildings in a professional manner.
• Willingness to perform other duties as requested.
