Job summary

Wappingers Central School District seeks a skilled trades professional to perform plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and facilities maintenance across district properties. Responsibilities include central heating maintenance, grounds care, inspections, material estimates, and permit coordination.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a NYS driver’s license, and 1 year as a journeyman or 4 years HVAC experience in large-scale settings. Fingerprint clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year as journeyman or four years HVAC experience in large-scale commercial/industrial settings.
• HVAC plumbing repair experience incl. pump rebuilding, steam traps, faucets, and plumbing fixtures.
• Must hold NYS driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform skilled repairs to plumbing, steam lines, electric wiring and equipment, furniture, doors and windows, hardware and various mechanical equipment.
• Install shelving, storage cabinets and new hardware, and perform skilled carpentry tasks.
• Do skilled painting work.
• Maintain and repair central heating systems.
• Perform grounds maintenance and maintain athletic and playground facilities.
• Inspect property to ascertain repair needs.
• Estimate materials required for repairs.
• Obtain necessary permits, including Health Department requirements.
• Perform snow and ice control activities.
• May keep daily time and material records.
• May oversee seasonal help.
