Job summary

Dorchester County in South Carolina is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform light to medium equipment operation and manual labor in maintaining county grounds and rights-of-way, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry tasks.

This is a full-time role with a Monday–Friday schedule; availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays during emergencies is expected; a valid driver’s license is required. You will keep records, use tools, and follow safety standards to ensure quality work.

Qualifications

High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
One year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

Performs grounds keeping work, including mowing, edging, planting, and landscaping.
Repairs plumbing systems and fixtures, water heaters, and related components.
Maintains electrical components and lighting, replaces bulbs, and supports wiring tasks.
Operates light-to-medium equipment such as mowers, tractors, trucks, and edgers.
Puts up, repairs, or maintains drywall and carpentry-related duties and general facility upkeep.
Maintains records on maintenance and repairs; adheres to safety policies.
