General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Multiskilled Rad Technologist I to join our team.

As a Multiskilled Rad Technologist I, you will conduct a variety of radiographic examinations for use by a physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions. You will perform technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Both computer-programmed and manual equipment are used during technique selection and imaging. You will assume responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Operates radiological equipment to produce clinical diagnostic x-ray images as directed by physicians and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides utmost attention to the individual medical needs, dignity, and comfort of all patients, supporting the objectives of the hospital. Requires ARRT Radiography registration and state licensure.

The Multi-skilled Radiology Technologist Lead shall additionally provide leadership and guidance to the Radiology department associates and possess and demonstrate appropriate knowledge and technique to provide appropriate clinical care to the specific patient population.

Primary Duties:
  1. Demonstrates thorough understanding and clinical competency for all exams and equipment of multiple modalities, including preparing and administering contrast agents as directed and authorized by Radiologists. Provides the utmost attention to the medical needs, dignity, and comfort of all patients in support of the hospital's mission and values.
  2. Follows departmental imaging standards by performing high-quality imaging of the requested anatomic areas, properly labeling images, explaining exams to patients, and obtaining pertinent clinical information, history, and consent for procedures.
  3. Properly identifies patients (Name & DOB), maintains HIPAA compliance, and demonstrates adequate knowledge to provide radiological services suitable for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, in compliance with radiation safety policies.
  4. Performs examination completion in RIS and PACS, ensuring images are processed, archived, and available for interpretation, and maintains department documentation standards within all electronic systems.
  5. Responsible for maintenance and care of departmental facilities, ensuring compliance with infection control policies. Performs routine duties independently with minimal supervision, knowing when to refer problems to Lead or Director.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Satisfactorily completed formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • 3-4 years of experience in the registry post-primary pathway certification preferred.
  • Maintained ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS status by fulfilling education/registry requirements in registries such as MRI, CT, Mammography, Cardiac-Interventional Radiography, Vascular Interventional Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry, Quality Management, or Sonography.
  • CHCQM - Certified Healthcare Quality Management through the Maryland Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
  • Active Maryland state licensure.

Additional requirement: CPR certification.

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $59.26.
