Job summary

Georgia State University is seeking an experienced Skills Trade Worker to perform advanced maintenance and renovation tasks across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other building trades at the Atlanta Campus.

The role requires technical or vocational training in relevant trades, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and a valid Georgia driver’s license. Shift is Monday–Friday 8:30am–5:15pm with a salary in the low-to-mid 30k range, and generous benefits including tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Technical or vocational degree in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade area; or high school diploma or GED and one year experience in plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrical trade.
• A valid Georgia driver's license is required.
• Preferred: knowledge of HVAC/heating tools and basic electrical/plumbing/carpentry practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor operations, maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC, heating equipment, and plumbing.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems assigned to HVAC and Heating.
• Transports raw materials and semi-finished products between department facilities on and off campus.
• Performs light carpentry work such as rebuilding the dry sauna and table repairs.
• Mixes and pours concrete for foundations and fixtures.
• Installs, repairs and services motors, pumps, and fans.
• Operates heavy machinery such as front-end loader, backhoe and lift.
