Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a skilled trades technician in Kentucky to operate, maintain, repair, alter and add to HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems across facilities. The role requires hands-on work with building systems and coordination with contractors.

You will perform preventative/predictive maintenance, monitor contractors, manage inventory, and support safety and reliability initiatives while responding to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year relevant experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Overtime, weekend and evening shifts may be required.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather.
• Willingness to pursue relevant licenses/certifications (e.g., HVAC or CFC).

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Perform general building maintenance and minor repairs.
• Monitor work of contractors to ensure safety and compliance.
• Keep records and reports of maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and on-call duties.
• Utilize computer systems for work orders and documentation.
