Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Indiana seeks an Electrician to perform work on energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities, and to assist in responding to emergencies to restore service.

The role requires use of test equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger) and involvement in disassembly, inspection, and repair of transformers, breakers, and other station equipment, as well as installation tasks and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts; after six months may work on higher voltages under supervision.
• Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger and other test equipment.
• Assist in disassembling/repairing station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, protectors and transformers; install/maintain batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and filters.
