Job summary

American Electric Power in Shreveport, LA is seeking a Building Maint Tech to operate, maintain, repair and upgrade HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems within our facilities. The role includes assisting with building upkeep, safety compliance, and coordinating with contractors as needed.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum one (1) year relevant experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers’ license.
Overtime and shift work may be required, occasional travel may be required.
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Assist in performing preventative/predictive maintenance on HVAC-related equipment, generators, and building systems.
Perform general building maintenance including drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows.
Monitor work of others, including contractors, and ensure compliance with contract terms and safety rules.
Perform general housekeeping duties and assist in moving, repairing, and installing office items.
Procure quality parts and materials under guidance from supervisor.
Maintain records and submit inspection reports as required.
