Job summary

Sun Communities is seeking Maintenance Technicians in Troy, MI, to perform routine and preventative maintenance across our communities. You will repair homes, maintain grounds, and ensure clean, safe surroundings for residents.

The role requires basic tools proficiency, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a valid license. On-call work and outdoor conditions are common, with a strong focus on resident service and curb appeal.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months maintenance experience in apartment/manufactured housing preferred.
• 6 months snow removal experience preferred (if applicable).
• 6 months general maintenance knowledge and repair experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Basic computer proficiency (email/internet).
• Willingness to on-call schedule.
• Proficient with hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery.
• Ability to produce legible written reports.
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and grounds maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance for Sun communities.
• Repair rental homes and facilities; keep grounds, streets and facilities clean and well maintained.
• Inspect irrigation and water systems; read and repair meters when needed.
• Maintain vacant sites, remove trash, strap-downs, and prepare sites for occupancy.
• Snow removal where applicable; operate plows or spread salt.
• Keep lawns manicured; plant care, mulching, hedges, and tree trimming as needed.
• Ensure streets and routes are hazard-free and safe for residents.
• Assist with move-in/move-out spotting and supervision of contractors.
• Maintain community pools, playgrounds, and other amenities in good condition.
