Job summary

Sun Communities, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine and preventative maintenance across our communities. You will handle home and facility repairs, keep grounds tidy, and ensure all utility systems function properly.

The role requires you to drive between sites, operate various tools and equipment, and uphold safety standards while delivering excellent customer service to residents and guests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• 6 months in previous maintenance experience in the apartment or manufactured housing industry (Preferred)
• 6 months in snow removal experience, including operating a plow truck (if applicable) (Preferred)
• 6 months in demonstrated knowledge of and broad experience in general maintenance techniques and repair work (Preferred)
• Ability to endure fluctuations in temperatures as working conditions require constant outdoor work
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Ability to work well independently as well as on a team
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
• Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
• Ability to work an on-call schedule
• Proficient skills in operating various hand tools, power equipment, and commercial machinery
• Ability to provide legible written reports
• General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and grounds maintenance

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance to maintain the physical integrity of Sun's communities.
• Conduct home/building maintenance repairs and ensure cleanliness and upkeep of property grounds, facilities, streets, equipment, and utility systems.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and prospective residents at all times.
• Drive to move between job sites and operate community vehicles as needed.
• Assist with supervision of service contractors and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Inspect playgrounds, pools, and other amenities and perform minor repairs as required.
• Maintain community lawns, irrigation, and landscaping, including weed control and trimming.
• Test water systems or meters and perform related maintenance tasks as applicable.
• Complete checklists and write legible reports on daily activities.
