Job summary

Dermatology, Inc. is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join our team in the Indianapolis area. You will enter visit details in the EMR, escort patients, assist physicians with procedures, document patient histories, and handle administrative tasks.

Requirements include healthcare experience preferred with willingness to train, strong organization, communication, and flexibility. Some travel to additional locations outside the Indianapolis region is required.

Qualifications

• Healthcare experience is preferred but will train highly motivated person.
• Must be a team player.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize heavy workloads in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to maintain a daily routine to meet daily deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to assist in any aspect of clinical operations.
• Willing to travel to other locations outside of the Indianapolis region.

Responsibilities

• Enter information concerning visit in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Escort patients to exam rooms.
• Assist providers with clinical procedures and surgeries.
• Record and document patient history to patient charts.
• Answer phone calls, voicemails, and patient clinical questions.
• Review medical history and counsel patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment.
• Explain/document laboratory results and pathology results.
• Call in prescription refills.
• Explain procedures and treatments.
• Initiate prior authorizations.
• Schedule appointments and urgent visits as appropriate.
