WDIV ClickOnDetroit is seeking an engaging Meteorologist to own the forecast across TV and digital platforms in Detroit. This role emphasizes storytelling, audience connection, and timely, accurate weather content across social, streaming, and mobile channels.

The ideal candidate will lead severe weather coverage, craft relatable video content, and build trust with the Metro Detroit community while maintaining credibility and precision in forecasts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in meteorology.
• Prior years of on-air experience, including significant severe weather coverage experience.
• Proven track record of accuracy in weather forecasting.
• Strong on-air presence with an engaging personality and conversational weather presentation.
• Demonstrated ability to create compelling, authentic and relatable video content for social and digital platforms.
• Strong understanding of how audiences use social media, digital video and mobile platforms, and the ability to tailor content for each.
• Comfortable using smartphones and other tools to independently create, edit and publish digital and social content.
• Ability to translate complex meteorological information into clear, useful and compelling storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate and compelling weather forecasts across TV, digital, streaming, mobile, and social platforms.
• Create frequent, engaging weather content for social and digital platforms, including short-form video.
• Use social and digital platforms to build an ongoing relationship with the audience.
• Produce creative weather reports using advanced graphics and pre-production elements.
• Explain the 'why' behind forecasts and their relevance to viewers.
• Contribute content to station platforms online and on social media.
• Develop ties to the Metro Detroit community through events and engagement.
• Collaborate with reporters, producers, and photographers to maximize coverage.
