Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating broadcast and digital/social journalism.
• Several years of professional journalism experience in broadcast and online media.
• Strong on‑camera reporting and live field presence.
• Ability to independently report, shoot, write, edit, produce and present a TV news story.
• Proven experience producing original social‑first video content.
• Knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube storytelling best practices.
• Strong news judgment, ethics, sourcing and verification.
• Excellent writing for broadcast, digital and social audiences.
• Experience shooting and editing with mobile devices and professional tools.
• Ability to work quickly, accurately and under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Report, shoot, write and edit general assignment, enterprise and breaking news stories for NBC Bay Area newscasts in an MMJ role as needed.
• Report and produce original journalism for NBC Bay Area's digital, streaming and social platforms.
• Develop, produce, shoot, edit and front social‑first news briefs and short‑form video content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
• Provide fast social‑first coverage of breaking news, major local stories, community and sporting events.
• Develop compelling social explainer content that breaks down complex stories and issues.
• Publish content directly to NBC Bay Area's social platforms with platform‑specific storytelling.
• Serve as a digital correspondent within newscasts, providing context around online trends.
• Collaborate with reporters, anchors, producers, photographers, editors and digital teams; also independently manage from idea to publication.
• Maintain NBC Bay Area's journalistic standards across platforms, including fast‑moving breaking news.
• Experiment with emerging storytelling formats and platform features as technology evolves.
