Job description

We’re determined to make a difference and are proud to be an insurance company that goes well beyond coverages and policies. Working here means having every opportunity to achieve your goals – and to help others accomplish theirs, too. Join our team as we help shape the future.

The Multinational Underwriter is a specialized resource within our underwriting practice. In this role, you will be part of The Hartford’s (HIG’s) growth initiatives to develop and implement a broader multinational risk strategy supporting small, mid-size, and large U.S.-domiciled risks. Specifically, in partnership with our home office and regional underwriting teams, this role will underwrite Controlled Master Programs (CMPs), manage the placement of compliant locally admitted policies with our Hartford Global Insurer Network, and provide multinational expertise at the point of sale to differentiate HIG’s Multinational Choice offering.

Success in this role will require demonstrated sales and negotiation skills, strategic planning to create new business, account expansion, and cross-selling opportunities. Underwriting responsibilities include Property and Casualty lines of business.

We’ll Be a Good Match if You Have:

  • A customer-first mindset, putting our customers at the center of everything you do.
  • A passion for making decisions through data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • A team spirit and desire to work collaboratively.
  • A positive attitude and pride in delivering quality work.
  • The ability to own your work and follow through on commitments.
  • The ability to adapt and execute within a fluid and changing business environment.
  • An understanding of how to build relationships and trust among diverse groups.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 3+ years of Multinational P&C insurance experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven success in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external business partners.
  • A high-energy self-starter with resilience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on delivering outcomes.
  • The ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess business problems, make recommendations, and propose solutions.
  • Solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
  • Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making abilities.

Compensation:

The listed annual base pay range is primarily based on external market analysis. Actual pay may vary and could be above or below the range based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. Compensation includes other rewards such as bonuses, incentives, and recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is $78,000 - $184,800.

The salary range reflects our ability to hire at different titles and levels depending on background and experience.
