South Dakota Department of Transportation in Pierre is offering a Summer internship titled Intern - Transportation Planning Intern. This hands-on role supports Project Development Planning in multimodal community planning, including bike, pedestrian, transit, and traditional modes.

The internship combines office tasks such as policy research, GIS, planning and report generation with on-site work in the community, including site analyses, data gathering, and public meetings.

Formación

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, South Dakota residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsabilidades

• Assist Project Development Planning staff in implementing a transportation planning program.
• Conduct policy research, GIS tasks, planning, and report generation in the office.
• Work on-site with the community for site analysis, data gathering, and public/stakeholder meetings.
• Some overnight travel required; typically five 8-hour days per week.
