Job summary

State of South Dakota, Department of Transportation, is seeking a Summer Session Intern - Transportation Planning Intern in Pierre to assist planning staff in multimodal transportation planning, GIS, policy research, and report generation. The internship combines office work and site work with a small community, with some overnight travel, typically five 8-hour days per week.

Applicants must be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student with at least 6 credit hours.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.

Responsibilities

• Assists Planning staff in multimodal transportation planning, GIS, policy research, and report generation.
• Works on site with the community, including site analysis, data gathering, and meetings.
• Some overnight travel will be required and typically five 8-hour days per week.
