Job summary

Bridgewater State University is seeking a Tutor for Multilingual Students in the Academic Achievement Center to support undergraduate students learning English as an additional language. The role requires taking ENGL 205 for two semesters, having strong communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to equity.

Qualifications

• Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for Fall 2026.
• Must have a grade of B or higher in ENGL 101 and ENGL 102.
• Ability to submit a sample of formal writing: an essay or research paper.
• Availability to attend pre-service tutor training before the semester start.
• Must take ENGL 205, a one credit class, for two semesters to receive feedback on tutoring strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer mentorship and language support to BSU students for whom English is an additional language.
• Meet weekly for one hour with assigned students to improve conversation, speaking, listening, writing, and reading in English.
