Job summary

The Community Preservation Corporation in Buffalo, NY is seeking an Assistant Mortgage Officer to support the origination, closing and conversion of multifamily loans. You will ensure all loan documents are accurate and delivered to the Portfolio Services department in a timely manner.

You'll order third‑party reports (credit, appraisal, environmental), review contracts and insurance binders, and prepare term sheets and commitment letters in collaboration with mortgage officers.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with 1-2+ years of loan processing and documentation experience preferred.
• Understanding of multifamily loan processing and documentation a strong plus.
• Comprehension of mortgage offering elements and steps to close a deal.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Analytical ability—applies strong analytical ability to loan processing, due diligence, and closing readiness.
• Excellent communication skills for internal and external parties.
• Customer service orientation for borrowers and partners.
• Teamwork and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Good project and time management, multi-tasking across loan packages and office admin.
• Initiative and self-starter in supporting mortgage officers and office needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare closing and related packages including Construction and Permanent Loans and submissions to Portfolio Services.
• Order, review and track third party reports; prepare environmental report memos; review contracts and insurance binders.
• Review loan applications and perform due diligence on Borrowers and development teams.
• Prepare term sheets and commitment letters with mortgage officers after loan approval; review SONYMA commitments.
• Oversee scanning of documents to the document management system (Navigator).
• Perform market research as needed for individual projects.
• Maintain and update Loan Pipeline status.
• Work with Closings Coordinator, Borrower and Mortgage Officer to complete closing package; provide closing checklists and update items.
• Participate in conference calls regarding closings and coordinate with PSD to schedule closing dates.
• Coordinate with External Affairs and mortgage officers to maintain contact lists, schedule events and purchase tickets.
• Act as Office Manager to order supplies, process invoices, schedule travel, staff meetings, and perform other admin duties.
• Maintain all office administrative and project files.
• Keep attendance records and report monthly to CPC Central Office.
• Prepare monthly Mortgage Officer’s American Express Expense Reports.
• Perform other administrative duties as required.
