Job summary

The Community Preservation Corporation, Buffalo, is seeking a hybrid Assistant Mortgage Officer to support due diligence, closing and conversion of multifamily loans. You’ll prepare closing packages, order third‑party reports, review appraisals and track loan status with mortgage officers and PSD.

Undergrad degree and 1–2+ years in loan processing required; strong MS Office skills and attention to detail are essential. This role offers competitive pay and a collaborative, mission‑driven culture.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with 1–2+ years of loan processing and documentation experience preferred.
• Understanding of multifamily loan processing and documentation a strong plus.
• Comprehension of mortgage offering elements and steps necessary to close a deal.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Analytical ability and clear communication throughout due diligence and closing readiness.

Responsibilities

• Prepare closing and related packages for Construction and Permanent Loans, Freddie Mac, and SONYMA submissions.
• Order, review and track third‑party reports; prepare environmental report memos; review contracts and insurance binders for closing/conversions.
• Review loan applications and conduct due diligence on borrowers and development teams.
• Prepare term sheets and commitment letters with mortgage officers after loan approvals.
• Oversee scanning of documents to Navigator document management system.
• Perform market research as needed for projects.
• Maintain and update Loan Pipeline status.
• Coordinate closings with Borrowers, PSD, and Officers; provide closing checklists and track items to completion.
• Participate in conference calls regarding closings and schedule closing dates.
• Maintain contact lists with External Affairs and mortgage officers; coordinate events and sponsorships.
• Order supplies, process invoices, expense reports; arrange travel and staff meetings.
• Maintain office files and attendance records; prepare monthly expense reports.
• Perform other administrative duties as required.
