Job summary

The John Stewart Company is seeking a skilled Maintenance/Grounds professional for our Richmond, CA properties. The role includes preventive maintenance, repairs, and on-site upkeep of apartment communities, with emphasis on safety and efficient service delivery.

Responsibilities include routine inspections, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and grounds maintenance, plus timely work orders and emergency coverage when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.
• Ability to perform building trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall).
• Must possess valid California driver’s license and reliable insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain safety hazards and maintenance deficiencies.
• Perform electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, painting, and janitorial tasks.
• Operate installations and repairs per codes and standards.
• Turn over apartment units as directed by Property Manager.
• Prepare and document work orders for identified issues.
• Participate in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage.
• Report condition needs of grounds and common areas and take corrective action.
• Maintain grounds cleanliness and common area upkeep.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
