Job summary

The John Stewart Company is seeking a maintenance technician in Emeryville, CA to perform a wide range of maintenance and janitorial duties with emphasis on safety, problem solving and customer service. The role involves completing routine inspections, handling repairs, and coordinating with the Property Manager on unit turnovers.

Qualifications

• California driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• Basic mathematical skills with fluency in reading, writing and communication in English.
• Minimum 3 years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for ACM/LBP in pre-1981 housing.
• Ability to perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, etc.
• Ability to recognize safety hazards and take precautionary measures.

Responsibilities

• Works with Property Manager to conduct routine monthly safety hazard and maintenance deficiency inspections per UPCS.
• Performs electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, plaster, painting tasks and janitorial duties as assigned.
• Operates and makes installations and repairs in accordance with local, state and national codes.
• Performs timely apartment unit turnovers as directed by Property Manager.
• Prepares work orders for safety hazards and deficiencies.
• Participates in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
• Reports condition needs of common areas and grounds and takes corrective action.
• Cares for grounds and keeps areas clean including trash removal, sidewalks, parking lots, and carports.
• Performs monthly safety hazard and maintenance deficiency inspections.
• Creates and implements preventive maintenance schedule.
