Job summary

The John Stewart Company is seeking a Maintenance/Janitorial professional to perform a wide range of maintenance tasks including preventive, emergency, cosmetic, and routine work. The role emphasizes safety, problem solving, and timely inspections across multifamily properties in California.

Responsibilities include inspections with the Property Manager, basic trades, unit turnovers, and occasional off-hours emergency coverage. A valid CA license and 3+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid California driver's license and reliable insured vehicle.
• Basic math and fluency in reading, writing and communication in English.
• A minimum of 3 years of multi-family apartment maintenance experience.
• Ability to perform maintenance and repair building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, plaster, and fire protection systems.
• Ability to recognize safety hazards and take precautionary measures.

Responsibilities

• Work with Property Manager to conduct routine safety hazard and maintenance deficiency inspections.
• Perform electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry, plastering, painting tasks and janitorial duties as assigned.
• Operate and install/repair in accordance with codes and standards.
• Turn over apartment units as directed and process routine work orders.
• Participate in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
