• Assist with computers, printing, copying, scanning, and other technology.
• Refer more complex research questions to appropriate staff.

Job description

The Library Floater provides flexible support across the library’s Circulation, Reference, and Youth Services departments. This position assists staff and patrons with daily library operations, provides excellent customer service, and helps ensure that library programs and services run smoothly. The successful candidate should be dependable, adaptable, friendly, and comfortable working with patrons of all ages.

Circulation Services

• Assist patrons with checking materials in and out.
• Register new library patrons and update patron accounts.
• Assist with library cards, renewals, holds, fines, and account questions.
• Shelve and organize library materials accurately.
• Maintain an orderly and welcoming circulation area.
• Assist patrons with locating materials and using library equipment.

Reference Services

• Assist patrons with basic research and information requests.
• Help patrons locate books, databases, online resources, and other materials.
• Assist with computers, printing, copying, scanning, and other technology.
• Refer more complex research questions to appropriate library staff.
• Maintain a professional and helpful service environment.

Youth Services

• Assist with children's and teen programs and activities.
• Help prepare materials and spaces for storytimes, crafts, STEAM activities, and other programs.
• Assist children, teens, and families in locating age-appropriate books and resources.
• Help maintain organized and inviting children's and teen areas.
• Support library staff with program setup, cleanup, and other assigned duties.
