Job summary

University of Houston is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform a range of skilled trades in a campus setting, under minimal supervision. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, basic to intermediate service on mechanical and electrical devices, and support for carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general campus upkeep.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or GED.
1 2 3 years of related experience is required.
Valid Texas Driver License.
Security sensitive position; background check required.

Responsibilities

Establishes and performs preventative maintenance schedules for equipment and facilities.
2 Orders supplies and maintains inventory for skill trades.
3 May assist with training other maintenance personnel.
4 Performs plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, general maintenance, HVAC, roofing and exterior maintenance as required.
5 Selects materials to complete work requests or projects.
6 Assists other specialized crafts on larger projects and with event setup.
7 May be considered essential personnel and serve on emergency task forces.
8 Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
