Job summary

Welch’s is seeking an experienced Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician for our Lawton, Michigan facility. The role focuses on keeping production and facility equipment operating safely and reliably, with hands-on troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, and seasonal equipment preparation.

You will collaborate with plant operations to identify root causes, reduce downtime, and improve equipment performance in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• At least four years of relevant industrial maintenance or machine repair experience.
• Experience in food, beverage, or high-speed manufacturing preferred.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify root causes and complete effective repairs.
• Associate degree in industrial maintenance or mechanical technology is preferred.
• Journeyperson certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install production and processing equipment.
• Support refrigeration systems, boilers, wastewater operations, facilities, gas wells, and seasonal equipment.
• Diagnose equipment problems and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
• Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Prepare equipment and systems for seasonal production needs.
• Partner with production and processing teams to understand equipment priorities.
• Recommend improvements to equipment performance, maintenance procedures, and plant operations.
• Assist with job estimates, work scheduling, and cost control.
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately and on time.
• Follow all safety, food safety, sanitation, housekeeping, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities.
