Job summary

Aramark is seeking a Maintenance Worker for Alabama A&M University in Huntsville. The role involves day-to-day upkeep of residential units and academic facilities, ensuring a safe, clean environment for residents and staff.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, with compensation ranging $20.00–$28.50 per hour. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of maintenance experience across carpentry, plumbing, and light electrical work, and strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of residential and/or commercial maintenance experience.
• Experience performing general repairs in carpentry, plumbing, and light electrical work.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to lift, bend, push, pull, walk, and stand for extended periods as required.
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and complete work orders in a timely, professional manner.
• Perform general maintenance and repair work across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, and light electrical repairs.
• Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine efficient, effective solutions.
• Inspect assigned areas routinely and perform preventative maintenance to maintain safe and functional facilities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with applicable safety standards and policies.
• Demonstrate safe operation of tools, equipment, and maintenance machinery.
• Work independently while effectively managing changing priorities throughout the day.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with residents, students, faculty, staff, and guests.
• Adhere to all organizational safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
