Job summary

The Methodical Group is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Worker to support operations at a federal facility in Rutland, Vermont. The role requires hands-on work across electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, and general mechanical maintenance, with a preference for HVAC system experience.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of maintenance experience, holds a high school diploma or GED, and is capable of performing a broad range of repair tasks in a unionized, facility setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in general maintenance and repair.
• Multi-trade skills across electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry and mechanical systems.
• Experience with commercial HVAC systems and building mechanical systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of building systems, equipment, and facilities.
• Replace electrical outlets, wiring, switches, fixtures, and motors as needed.
• Conduct basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs within assigned scope.
• Repair walls and ceilings with plaster or similar materials.
• Repair or replace plumbing fixtures and perform basic plumbing maintenance.
• Paint floors, steps, walls, and other surfaces as required.
• Hang doors and install locks and hardware.
• Replace damaged window panes and other building components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and routine service calls.
• Support maintenance and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems.
