Job summary

Central Vermont Medical Center is seeking a skilled General Maintenance professional to join the facilities team. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and comfort of buildings and equipment, with focus on boilers, pumps, and control systems.

The ideal candidate has formal skilled-trade training or 2–3 years of plant maintenance experience, with strong reading of blueprints and safety practices.

Qualifications

• One year of formal training in a skilled trade or two to three years of on-the-job training experience in plant maintenance.
• Ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
• Preventive maintenance of boilers, pumps, compressors, and fans.
• Familiarity with DDC temperature control systems, oil-fired water heaters, and automatic water softeners.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical repair instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and repair maintenance issues independently.
• Respond to emergency calls with sound judgment and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
• Rotate shifts and perform seasonal tasks such as mowing, snow removal.
