Job summary

Dare County Schools Maintenance in Nags Head, NC seeks a General Maintenance technician to perform skilled trade work across HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and requires a strong hands-on capability with a range of mechanical equipment.

Typical duties include following work orders, performing preventive maintenance, assisting in repairs, and ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency, or demonstrated competency to perform the work.
• Journeyman level knowledge over a wide range of mechanical systems.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and apply torque to wrenches/valves.
• Additional 2 years of related experience in facilities maintenance and mechanical systems repair.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, maintain and operate the district's physical facilities.
• Provide help and training for maintenance mechanics in repairs of control and energy management systems.
• Follow approved service policies and reference assembly instructions for equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours calls on a rotating basis.
• Interact with students, staff and visitors; maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
• Perform tasks across multiple trades as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
